Amarnath Temple or the cave is the one of the most visited religious places in India. The temple which has immense religious significance among the Hindus is located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Deity of the place is Lord Shiva and this place is believed to have been created about 5000 years ago. The specialty of this Holy place is the phenomenal appearance of an ice formation in the shape of the ‘Shivalinga’ in the cave during the period of May-August every year. According to Hindu Mythology, Shiva discussed the secrets of life and immortality in this very cave. The Shiva linga is believed to grow and shrink with different phases of the moon, the aspect which has always evoked much curiosity in believers.
